Ian Smith has over 20 years experience of waste management firstly with Shanks & McEwan (later Shanks Chemical Services) as Plant Manager at the Stewartby Treatment Plant/Transfer Station and then with Malary Ltd (M2 Environmental Services) as Operations Support Manager.
He is now looking to pass on his experience and expertise directly to customers.
Ian can provide waste identification and classification including the raising of consignment note paperwork. All drummed and contained waste will be packed and labeled prior to safe transportation to the licensed disposal site.
His experience of the packing of laboratory chemicals and site clearances is unrivalled.
One of the few persons in the industry to hold three WAMITAB (Level 4 in Waste Management Operations) certificates of Technical Competence
a) Managing Landfill Hazardous Waste (4LH)
b) Managing Transfer Hazardous Waste (4TSH)
c) Managing Treatment Hazardous Waste (4TMH)

In September 2009 the WAMITAB exams in continuing competence in the above three areas were passed. As a result Ian can assist waste management companies with the technical competence coverage of their sites.

As a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor he can advise on all aspects of dangerous goods movements, including the preparation of the legally required “Annual Dangerous Goods Report”

Holding a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (Nebosh) Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Ian will ensure that all works are carried out in a safe manner. If required method statements and risk assessments can be produced to a customer’s requirements.
